MCT263 is home to our general use computing lab which houses 32 student workstations and a single instructor’s workstation. The current workstations in use in this lab are Dell Optiplex 990’s with the following specifications:
- i7-2600 Quad Core CPU
- 16 GB Memory
- 1GB AMD Radeon HD 6450
Dell U2211H UltraSharp Widescreen Flat Panel Display
- 6 USB Ports and a Serial Port accommodate the numerous device connections needed by the robotics and embedded courses.
In addition to the standard dual boot configuration found on most of our departmental machines, these computers have a third OS. This is a locked-down Linux development environment used for programming competitions, such as the annual ACM-ICPC Programming Competition.
This room also houses our hand-on computer museum which consists of a number of vintage machines. Currently we have:
♦ TRS-80 Model 2
♦ 386 running DOS 3.3
♦ 386SX running Windows 3.1
♦ A first generation Pentium running OS/2 Warp
♦ An Apple Macintosh IIsi running Mac OS 6.0.1
