FlyEye Project

The FlyEye project is an undergraduate research project to design and build a fly activity sensor.  The picture on the right shows the final product.  The flies are placed in the glass tube where their activity interrupts IR laser beams.  The microcontroller, which was designed and built entirely in-house, accepts configuration information from a PC, and then monitors the number of times the beams are broken.  This information is recorded into an EEPROM for later data retrieval an analysis.

Now that the prototype has been created, we can create low cost (about $100) controllers for use with a variety of sensor devices.
